Lighting The Way..

In the underground home in ye old world#1, the waterfall corridor is progressing slowly, but surely. I've had to make some changes though on the North corridor.

(Water is default because of new patch):

In the last picture, on the right side, I've actually had to take the wall back a couple of blocks to keep the aesthetic. It's coming along, slowly. I've updated the painterly pack as you can see, but cobblestone (last picture in the ceiling) is now a parkor style, but I still don't like it, it looks to busy. Stone-brick on the other hand looks quite nice now:

Comparison: Stone-brick Vs Cobblestone.

So I may change any cobblestone to stone-brick instead as it looks much nicer. This column is just for an example though, and won't be staying put.

New Patch
There's also been the new patch that I mentioned with greater high added and Redstone lams among other things. You don't have to use Redstone for ceiling lamps though as you can place buttons and switches on the sides of the lamps and they will light up, naturally.

Simple cube house created in creative.

The added height is much welcome, not only for building higher, but to stop stumpy trees because of the previous restriction. In my World#2 for example, I have a mountain next to my home embedded in a mountain, and the trees at the very top  have always cut-off because of the previous height restriction, not growing to their full potential. I am currently chopping them all down and replanting!

That's about all I have, I just wanted to make a post as they have been lacking as you may have noticed. I haven't had the enthusiasm lately, and get much more out of multiplayer and this great server I'm on. So I've been mostly doing that. It has led however to having to make decisions about what I want to keep doing in single player and which worlds I'll continue to work on and which ones will be on hold.

World#1 - Posts will be sporadic, but I will continue to redevelop my underground home.
World#2 - Very sporadic posts. Will continue to redecorate the Art Gallery but it will be an occasional thing.
World#3 (Beta home) - Redevelopment is on permanent hold.
StrongHolm - Stronghold redevelopment is on permanent hold.
Allbases World - As soon as the roof is done, that's it, I'm done with it. Stick a fork in it, it's done!
Mountain Home In a Mountain (1.9.5) - Will continue to work on it.
World#1 v 1.1+ Will continue to work on it as I've really enjoyed doing this new version of an old house on an old world.
Creative Ravine mall/Homes - Very occasional. Posts, sporadic.

The Future - I do want to create a new world, one of the things I want to do for the longest time is create homes in the tree-tops of a jungle biome. proper Ewok style. It's something different , it's not a normal home or yet another home embedded in a mountain, and after seeing jungle biomes when introduced, makes me wanna do it because it's different.

Until next time..

12w06a

So there's a new snapshot and I hear zombies can now breakdown wooden doors! Only on hard mode though.

For the most part I play on normal so it's not a problem however my old wold#2 is one where I play on hard, so after backing up my modded 1.1, (SPC & Water Shader), I simply had to test this out! The sound of the banging on the door is terrifying! (Also very cool.) I don't really have to worry about my front and back doors to the complex as they are both lit up well enough, however in my brown mushroom farm where it is dark for them to grow, I may have to switch to a new Iron door! I might see if I can do another piston "secret door" instead.

One thing I have noticed though, which is kinda annoying is that, no matter how far away from my dogs I am - If I get attacked they teleport to me no matter what now. Kinda sucks as I've already lost a few. Example: I was round the rear lounge of my mountain hope, which is no where near the dog kennel, and there was a skeleton outside my door. Naturally i opened to get rid of him, and next thing you know all my dogs are there...

I doubt I'll stay with the snapshot because of the water shader mod, but it is a good edition, if a little floored with wolf AI now.

Hating On Cobble & Stone

I thought I'd just do a general updates on my world, Not a great deal has been going on but I have found myself mooching around world#2 doing improvements - It's just hard to let go of that world.

So for my copy of World #2, I have completely embraced refurnishing the Art Gallery, so much so that whilst looking around I've just begun to hate all the cobble and stone. So far I've been adding Glowstone lighting, brick walls and half coloured walls, as well as a new staircase down into the gallery. (I hated the stairs coming straight down the middle, that's the kind of 2010 thing I used to do, which is when it was created.) I decided though that instead of full coloured walls, I would do half coloured walls like this picture I posted before:

So, before where we had this:

Turning into this:

Even the cobble steps have to go. To separate then from the wooden floor I've used coloured wool so you can clearly see where they begin, otherwise the stairs would bleed into the floor being the same material.

From the other angle, instead of cobbles stairs coming down the center, there's now a nice wooden staircase hugging the wall down:

It's gonna be a big project, but it needs to be done. It needs to be turned from ugly to something smart and modern. I also made a small change to the front room, see if you can spot it!:

Okay the lever is a bit of a give-way, but I made a secret entrance to the portal room, jails and lava pools. Took a greet deal of working out, trying to do it from right to left at first, that didn't work out. So then I had to redo it from left to right which meant re-configuring the outside slightly to hide the Redstone but eventually came up with a solution.

You'll notice the built up dirt wall behind the Birch tree - to hide the Redstone, it's made the corner of the mountain a little bulkier, but it's not too noticeable. A single brick column has been added in front of the Redstone there, and yeas I finally replaced the cobble stairs of that bay window and replaced the roof with stone=brick like the other hang-over, and matched it in height.

Work on the roof is going slowly, I haven't really added much to it except for a second row this morning. In other news , although it's been temporary patched up, a ninja creeper keeps dropping in on the cow farm, I don't get where they're coming from, could be a lighting issue. Either way I had enough pigs to repopulate but they took out all but 1 of the cows, so now I have to go find it a mate - again.

I've also had to pen-off around the entry hatch to the chicken coop as when one escaped, too many others got out whilst trying to lure the escapee in. Therefore I've got a little entry section that's been made using fences to ease the traffic. I've also stopped spamming the chickens with eggs now, just collecting the eggs as I have MORE than enough!

Also started carpeting the front room!:

Have also started along the next corridor...

Needs more light I know. Must eradicate Cobble and stone!

Apart from the updating of these banners nothing more has happened as yet on these worlds.

Light changes..

So as I plan a build (On my creative copy) for the horrible chunk error wall next tot the hotel at the Chunk Plaza development, i've be...
