Hexxit Mansion!

In Hexxit, I had this is the idea to build a mansion out of a battle tower! I have in the past conquered a battle tower and begun renovating it after it's destruction - to live there, but never got far on the building side. The idea is this - once conquered I will do a partial renovation and restore the ruins, then on either side of the battle tower I will build the sides of the mansion out so the front of the house will return a half-curve of half the battle tower sticking out! Eventually that part will be rendered in new building material.

So I spawned here:

Pretty nice huh? And there's a jungle near buy as well which is useful! I didn't fancy trying to hack an entire jungle tree down yet however, so I started looking for a smaller oak tree to make the basics, all I could find however was a stumpy jungle tree but that would do! As I traveled along the edge of the mountain however my gaze was drawn to a building in the distance!:

Before this I noticed some that stone in the side of the mountain, which is why I headed that way. I had already just made a crafting bench and wooden pick, the only items I make to then get stone tools. Standard protocol of mine on any world - modded or vanilla. I would get the stone on the way to this wondrous building, when I went to dig however, it wasn't just stone there!:

Of course with a newly acquired wood pick and a stone pick I'm about to make I obviously can't get it yet! I carry on towards the building after making my basic stone equipment - again standard for me in any world - vanilla and Modded. Now I have a stone - pick, axe, sword, shovel and hoe as well as a furnace. On my way I encounter more ores:

I still need Iron though!

I still need Iron though!

More ores, especially diamonds!:

Still need Iron though!

I hopped onto a tree to look for a visible cave, but saw none. As I get nearer the building, I remember seeing these in Hexxit before. I don't feel quite ready to take it on yet, not until I've at least got an Iron sword. There is another smaller building though. (I actually forgot these were the upside-down ones that go down) and decided I could take that on first! night was drawing in so I needed shelter but when I went inside - bad news. As well as skeleton and zombie spawners there was also a cave spider spawner (My pet hate!) and blazes!

I died trying to get out to regain health and recover. I must've died just on the edge or in the window hole as when I went back my sword was just lying outside - which was handy! Things got worse however. Not only was I shot by a skeleton - I was shot and the knock-back sent me through a hole in the floor to the next level down, the last place I wanted to be! You think it can't get worse? it did. I then fell through a hole next to me on that floor to even further down! I tried to scrambled up the stairs but died - again. Upon my return it was already turning to day...

As the sun came up, thoughts turned to just getting my sword and "Calling it quits" - not quitting I mean, I mean leaving the rest of the stuff in the other grave. I had wasted the night in repeatedly trying to get my stuff back.and should just being happy that I could still get my sword more than anything, everything else was replaceable. A blaze was lingering outside as well as skeletons everywhere. I also passed to closely to the other larger buildings and the guards spawned, oops. I stayed away enough not to attract their attention. As the sun rose I needed my sword but the mobs were everywhere! I went traveling in another direction, only to a nearby spot as the sun rose more fully. There was a ruin of another building nearby.

This would be a good temporary home for the night. I made a new set of tools and managed to rush in and destroy the blaze spawner at least, but was then killed by a cave spider, poisoned to death! Upon my return I managed to retrieve my sword from the dungeon and begun wandering towards the temporary building, There was a palm tree near by do I grabbed some logs, bush (Might be strawberry or Raspberries?) and also some Gyshal greens as I want a chocobo in the future. My inventory at the end of the day.

After this picture was taken I wandered outside a noticed a small hole in the ground with some visible stone and coal ore just by the water's edge, so as the sun went down I dug for more cobble for new tools and retrieved some coal so at least I has some light whilst I wait for the next day. It's pretty noisy outside with a few rhino's around but I am safe at least, blocking up some of the walls and making them higher with some sand I had acquired as I waited for the next day...

Emerging from my home I went down the small cave and found something I didn't realise was there. There was a very long drop down and I thought it might lead to a ravine, but no, instead what I got was even better.

When I got to the bottom I found cobble - and it wasn't placed by me. I thought it might be a dungeon, but instead the hole I made in the wall led to a series of rooms. Each darkened room had chests - some had spawners some didn't. I heard a high pitch squealing and thought it was Enederman, but instead it was some weird ghostly knight in chain mail.

The following pictures sow the rooms and my inventory with the finds, they may or may not be in the right order though:

First picture is the guy, and there were lots of them!:

My inventory to be unloaded into chests at my "Temporary home":

There is a battle tower on the surface near my temporary home, unfortunately it's right in the middle of the ocean - so is not a good location for the Battle tower ownage & renovation into a mansion. I will go across and tackle it though. The search for the perfect battle tower location continued and I ventured out the next morning cleared out the following building before finally finding a battle tower on land:

Before tackling the battle tower I spent the next day moving the inventory from my "Temporary home" and what was in my backpacks, to the following home near the battle tower.

It was a very long haul going back and fourth to get everything over. I set up a load of chests inside (From the first ocean battle tower) upstairs after replacing the upstairs/below ceiling floor and prepared for the battle tower.

Whilst living in the new temporary home I've fixed it up a little as I will be staying there until the new build around the battle tower is secure. This will require a temporary re-built of the battle tower ruins to get the full height back.

Currently:

I have a small farm out the front of it with Gyshal greens, wheat. cotton and a few other things. As you can just make out I've already started extending the ground floor sides as well trying to work out just how big this Hexxit mansion will be.

The missing AUGUST Updates

A bit of an update on things.

Last time I posted, I had begun to make a huge structure, temporarily with dirt walls until proper ones could be put in. I wasn't sure if this was going to be a factory an apartment block or a hotel, right now however; I'm leaning towards hotel.

The last time we looked at it, it was something like this:

It is now like this:

When I last played on it, (Magic launcher is being very temperamental these days), I have - as you can see done a lot more of the floor. The small tree farm is still there, but at this rate it will have to be moved soon.

Mo' Creatures, Mo Problems
Last time I had found a cave and was building a circular home up from it that would eventually be like a cyclindrical glass tube sticking out the ground. It then looked like this:

Since then, significant work has been done; including leveling the inside to a very base level deep down and turning that wall into glass with stone side accents. I also have a replacement goat after the former two died and a pet panda too!

Currently looks like:

I actually had to go in the game just now to get those two pictures, thankfully Magic Launcher/Forge was in a good mood and worked so I might actually be able to continue.

I set myself some challenges and new rules for this world. The twist is - I cannot build inside the mountain! Any rooms I need for this have to be on the mountain or coming off the mountain. That means there may well be platforms built of the sides of the mountain - but no building inside it! I can use the inside for resources - but that's all! I can also convert the sides of the mountain if I wish - which is an idea, looks completely built on the outside but is really solid mountain inside.

The last time I posted about this world I had barely begun the top of the house:

When I last played it, I continued a border around the house upstairs so that the top part stuck out more than the lower ground floor to give it depth. After a bit of creeper damage walls have started to go up and window holes are in place. I may have even found a corner for a little en-suite bathroom up there!

Creative Builds
Built on a creative section on a server I frequent. Plot is 48 x 48, resource pack: Better Than Default. Based on a Kerala design home.

The back still needs a lot of work however.

Lastly, I've started another Hexxit world, but this time the plan is to build a mansion out of a battle tower! I have - in the past, conquered a battle tower and begun renovating it after it's destruction - to live there, but never got far on the building side. The idea is this - once conquered I will do a partial renovation and restore the ruins, then on either side of the battle tower I will build the sides of the mansion out so the front of the house will return a half-curve of half the battle tower sticking out! Eventually that part will be rendered in new building material.

Beyond that it's your idea to help and guide me and give me ideas! I might post more about this next time however.

Diggin' Holes // MO' More Creatures

I know it's been a while since I've posted, and believe me I've been meaning to sit down and get round to posting this one for ages. So here are some more things I've been up to.

After watching certain YouTube video I was inspired to build a survival tower.factory.hotel etc, not sure what. As posted: Here previously. Well I have been busy, busy, busy clearing the inside of the dirt walled area, and currently need to go on a zombie hunt again to fix my shovel again. So currently it did look like this:

As you can see - in the main section I only have that small square to remove! Will have to let the sheep out too. I just made a bed when taking this screenshot - just to set the spawn, next night fall I'm a goin' huntin'! Get that xp up to fix my enchanted sword up!

MUCH LATER...

I ended up playing more this afternoon, and not only got rid of that square but cleared out the other smaller section as well. In that section I replanted the Oak and Birch trees so I can start laying a floor in the main section. So now, it looks more like this:

Mo' Creatures II
The other things I've been doing is starting  a main world with Mo' Creatures. I've been reminiscing about it lately so using the Magic Launcher started a new world. The last time I did a Mo' Creatures world though I ended up with far too many rabbits and had a bit of a goat fixation! Not to mention the two giant lizards I kept when I modded World #3. (Which ultimately led to the downfall of the original building thanks to ogres.) wasted too much time during the day however and had to spend the night in a cave, and there were already some creatures down there - a mole an ostrich. I also brought a couple of tamed goats with me and a bunny.

I've been looking around the outside in the daytime and I just couldn't find anywhere inspiring to build. I could of just built in the plains, but I'm the kind of person that has to be inspired to by the land around me to build. Eventually I found this and was inspired instantly!:

So it looks like I will be living underground after all! The animals will have to live up top though. I don't want to make just boring pens for them though, so I might have to build some sort of complex? Anyway, the plan for the hole is this: to make it more round and circular and build a cylindrical glass tower going up into the sky! I know it's not very blast proof, some sides will also have alternate blocks for lighting. I may have glass exit tunnels coming of the sides as well. These were my instant thoughts when I saw the hole, and if something inspires me that quickly I have to do it.

So far we have:

Not very circular at the moment, I need to keep working on it.

Getting the animals was treacherous, especially as the goats kept stopping to butt heads instead of following me. Night fell and I died a couple of times to creepers, I was lucky not to loose any of the animals. All that flat bit inside will have to be leveled right down to the bottom.

So those are a couple of things outside my main world that I am currently doing. =)

More Big Pushes!

Main world, survival. Begun in 2010 in Alpha, I found a mountain with a hollow front and lava pouring down the front, round the back a single block waterfall coming out of the wall.. I decided it was a nice place to make a home! In 2012 after 2 years and developing my building style I began a mass re-generation scheme of my world, inside and outside. This is the story of my main world...

Just as the title says, I've been making a lot of big pushes on my renovation projects in my main world. I've also just - just upgraded the world safely to 1.7.10 using magic launcher so I can keep the shaders. I've actually changed them from SEUS to Slidur's shaders. For most inside shots I will be using internal shaders so if If any outdoor shots look plain - then I've forgot to put them back on.

So we're going to kick off exactly where we left off, last time I said I needed to properly make the half-way station more Aesthetic, so it looked like this:

Now it looks like this:

Finally that lumpy little mountain I've been wanting to do something with for over 3 & 1/2 years, now - not only has a purpose, but looks the part also.

Storage - apart from needing lots of item frames is now renovated, no more slab floors and cobble walls from 2010!

I have filled that last flame in with a glass block in front of it like the rest since!

Going back to the Mount DOOOOooooom project, when I last posted about it: Here, (Further down in the post); I had a lot to do round the back:

It now looks like:

The back chunk wall is now a new free-standing tower! I've only just added the ceiling/floors to mark out each level and as you can see am just adding window holes, Still lots to do, I have to clear out each floor inside of it's existing mountain and add detailing. The waterfall is fixed and that horrid 2011 window balcony on the right of the old picture is gone! Mainly as I needed to add curves to the stem of the tower.

Back in March, I posted about the Dawn Of The Third age regarding the library re-vamp, bringing it into modern times. After employing a second snow golem further down in the mountain, (The old former portal room) as the other one didn't seem motivated enough, I now have about a stack and a half of snow blocks after each visit, This has added a major push to the renovations!:

This big push one afternoon made me finally decide on the decor of the new enchantment room, which I decided to make match:

Bit of last wall to do, and the ceiling of course.

Only the day before last I also decided to make the animal farms more modern. (Except the chicken farm which needed restoring more recently after creeper damage.)  I was watching a video and saw pigs penned in by pink panes of glass and liked the idea! Enough to borrow the idea and then extend that idea to the sheep and cows as well.

So before it was pretty plain and vanilla:

Now it's pretty!:

A free pigs got free, a lot of sheep got free in the process - which I had to herd back!, and if that wasn't bad enough creepers blowing corners off at night! I did loose a few sheep as well. Also if you look at the apartment block to the right behind it, you can see the steps up to it now go dead on facing it instead of to the side and there's a new section of board walk in the sand.

Since 2011 I've been going around making my areas look better inside and out, renovating and by late 2013 almost all the small jobs were done, which is why I'm now on the larger projects. With the completion of the underwater/then underground minecart tunnel, and a further 2nd one to the half-way house the to do list is now as follows:

 • Finish off the flats & bathrooms in the apartment block and the kitchen in my dining room!
 • Finish of the library renovation, including books!
 • Fishing science lab reception - new decor, furnishings, decor to new exit tunnel out the back of science lab to outside world.
 • Finish both extensions in the half-way house to the new kitchen diner and living room, and - the upstairs - furnishing, en-suite bathroom.
 • Finish Mount DOOOOooooom!
 • Maaaaaaybe replace the 2010 cobble bridge.
 • Maaaaaaybe make the church twice as high!.(Not decided yet!)
Next post will be about something entirely different other than my main world.

Light changes..

So as I plan a build (On my creative copy) for the horrible chunk error wall next tot the hotel at the Chunk Plaza development, i've be...
