World#2 for Planet Minecraft Release?

Due to the size of my World#2 I'm about to release, I have decided I am going to try and upload it to Planet Minecraft for all of you to download the save. This does mean a few restrictions however.

You probably can't have resources in the save, so I've had to taken them out, but both SinglePlayerCommands and the Water Shader mod (1.1) are easy enough to find in the mod section of the official Minecraft forums. Another stipulation is no texture packs that are other people's, not even the "choose your options" painterly, so you won't be able to have the texture pack either I'm afraid. I may use a free separate service however just for this so you can have it. In the end I want to release this world, so I have to abide by their rules and regulations. =)

I actually tried to make a new video for this world but didn't switch it to peaceful (From hard) so there were a lot of out-takes where things got blown up, I ended up repairing as I toured. As of the moment, I haven't tried again. On the way round though I did notice a few other very minor things that needed doing - the corner of the far end of the nether bridge was missing, (Enderman?), the male changing rooms had minor creeper damage that I'd forgotten had happened, and a few other bits and bobs. All repaired for the final release however. I also went around the art gallery adding Glowstone and getting rid of all those torches, the results are much better! Much more lighter!

Before & Afters:

The cobblestone still isn't ideal, If I had more time I'd try and find more clay to make the entire have brick walls, or maybe snow, that's a possible idea I could squeeze out before the release. If I had more time as well  I'd also change the stone roof to white wool, although with the snow walls it might make it a bit sterile. But the texture of the snow should differentiate between that and the plain white of the ceiling.

Similarly I noticed the spacing between the supports of the first bridge, the cobble one, weren't even, so of course, being the perfectionist/anal retentive/having minecraft OCD, I had to sort that out! Whilst I was doing so I added glow stone around the bottom of the pillars of the bridge, under water. So it's even lit up there too and looks great with the water shader mod! Whilst doing so I changed the pillars under the water to some mossy cobblestone I had, up to the water surface level. After all - it's under water so if in real life, it would be a bit mossy wouldn't it!

Here are a load of pictures, which also include some night screen-shots - as I don't take enough of those.

Since I started took these screen-shot earlier, I have added more Glowstone around the back of the mountain, where the waterfall flows back into the ocean. It's just security lighting embedded in the dirt walls, but it helps light the place up.

I might try changing the art gallery walls tonight to snow (Will go nicely with the wood?) and see how it looks in a small area. If it's okay, I might do it all whilst I wait for my confirmation from Planet Minecraft to come through.

World#2 Release Imminent!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I haven't been doing much really apart from more work on the ravine and finally trying a new roof out on my AllBases world.

So to make up for the lack of posts, I spent this morning (Thursday 19th Jan) doing the last few things for World2 so it can be released. All the work was finishing off stuff in the apartments, I had to use INVedit unfortunately, otherwise it would delay things even more. This morning however I - finished off the last couple of ceilings, added a sink to each bathroom (Just a loo and sink in each one), completely re-did all the kitchens, made sure each one had sofas and tables and added more Glowstone lighting. Finally I'm happy now though as it's DONE. I added the latest 1.1 single player commands and made some last minute adjustments.

To do this I copied the very current up-to-date (& legit) save of world#2 and used that one as I also added a pumpkin farm 3 - 4,/5 days earlier. it's done to 1.0 specifications with a pumpkin on every other tilled soil, but it works fine as they grow on the empty patch next to the pumpkin shoot. You'll never have to re-plant, just pick the pumpkin, and till the soil it was on. having said that, each row is surrounded by water so it will just till itself.

I flattened out a hill just by the existing wheat farm and added some steps up to it, so the two farms are right next door to one another:

The world is all ready for release, now I just have to find somewhere to upload it to. Unfortunately the limit for a free mediafire account is 200MB limit upload, and the file is 305 MB. Bit of a problem there. I'm not gonna use a monthly paid account for something I'll use hardly ever use, so need some ideas! This is the only thing stopping the release now, it's ready, it's waiting for you, but I need somewhere to upload it too!

MEANWHILE IN THE RAVINE...

Things are looking quite different now, the walls for what will be the apartments are now brick, and the lower walls of the mall are sandstone. Also after a suggestion on the Minecraft forums, instead of ladders, i have stair cases, one going from the top of the ravine down to the apartments and another from the apartments down to the mall.

Imitation cahspoint/ATM machine

Shop fronts and Creeper art were added...

Look out it's a creeper face... He doesn't love nobody, Can't deny, can't deny, ma Creeper face...
He don't love nobody... C-C-C-C-C-C-Creeper face...

A fake drinks machine...

You may have also notice in the picture of the shop with the red wool signage, and the fake drinks machine, there are corridors going off. I figured it's a mall - it should be big, and being a ravine you can just cut into the walls and create these corridors, maybe for other large open areas/shops? (In a cave system?).

No.1 ravine terrace is also in place:

I also went a little crazy creating a nice walkway around the ravine!:

At the far end it's more rustic and derelict as that end is very overgrown (Lots of bonemeal use there!) so is just fenced of with 3 block high iron fencing.

This is the roof I'm currently trying out:

It looks okay but I still don't think it goes well with the log. :-/ Will keep working on it.

That's about all there is for now, but a last couple of things - 1.1 - spawner eggs, spawner a LOT of testificates around and about the ravine! Latest patch (today) - putting blocks behind vines and being able to climb them is a-mazing! Trees and leaves look same to me though. breeding dogs is adorable and the better zombie AI is much better! Zombies are still easy to kill, but at least it makes them more intelligent rather than getting stuck on corners!

That is all. XD

Out Of My Freakin' Mind!!

So what do you do when your bored in Minecraft? Me I either go multiplayer or, I piss about on a 1.0 creative world.

The purpose of this world was originally just to test building designs and different things but lately when I get bored I just go on it to mess about and create random shit. So far, I have created ya typical underwater base:

(Work in Progress)

I don't really like it.

A huge giant hole in the ground. (Which I can't find currently). The inspiration coming from Luke Skywalker's home in Tatooine in the original 1977 Star Wars film.

A mountain base (As opposed to a usual mountain home):

The start of a mansion. (Re-do of super-build from world #5)
(Work in Progress)

Traditional glass block windows because the walls are double width to allow interior walls/decoration. Due to this all interior walls with main doors will be arches, to avoid the double-door problem found with double width walls.

The improving of an NPC village. One of the earliest projects.

Didn't get too far before losing interest.

A tree house:
(Work in Progress)

Aaaaannnnnddd... What inspired me for the title of this post, the modernization of a ravine that kept me up until 3am!

But is that an ordinary ravine? Look again! Originally before 1.8 and ravines came out I said I might want to build/on/in a ravine but wasn't sure which or how to do it. Nothing ever came of it until last night when I had an idea....

Inspired by something I saw on TV a few weeks ago, rejuvenating an old railway link in the USA above the city to a modern open space with greenery and a very long walkway, I had a similar idea. I got an idea to create a two block border around each layer of a ravine, (And boy did I have to look to find an okay one), and convert it into a kinda - mall?

The many body of it would be like shops with a glass roof over head, on the layer above would be the homes by the walkway, which you'd simply dig into the ravine. Glass roof above that also, and the top would be open green space with vines and flowers.

This is the result that kept me up to 3am!:

Already vines are growing down..

The idea was to have a two width path all the way around the ravine, this would create the inner ravine crack shape for both glass roofs.

All these walls will be changed to modern material.

One end of the ravine, the dead end.

Trapped for an eternity.

The other end of the ravine that stretches out into a cave system..

I did clean this up very quickly for this post.

The end of the ravine, but not THE end of things..

After these steps we go into the cave system...

That 's far as it goes with this room, ending the cave.

3am, and that's just the basics - the walkway all the glass roofs, some vines, the wood flooring and steps and railings and basic lighting! I think I want to see it through. Plenty of walls still need fixing, all walls need new materials (Housing level & mall level, but not upper ravine level/green foliage area.) Then I have to decide where the homes are going to be...

Now be honest, if this was on a server wouldn't it be a cool place for a shopping mall?! Housing there only for the elite & wealthy! Okay you couldn't really dig down to extend your home, but you could extend it as far back as you want! To the side, to some extent on where your next door neighbor's home is. Although there wouldn't be loads of apartments, maybe a dozen well spread out ones?

This is what has made me a little crazy, this is what I do when I'm bored!

Light changes..

So as I plan a build (On my creative copy) for the horrible chunk error wall next tot the hotel at the Chunk Plaza development, i've be...
